Located in Apollo Beach, about 25 mins south of Tampa is the Tampa Electric Manatee viewing area.
Manatees show up in large numbers in the discharge canal where the water is clean and warm.
When it gets to 68 degrees or lower outside, the manatees come here to stay warm. The have made this The Manatee Viewing Center.
They have an education building that has displays about the manatees. Outside they have a butterfly garden a huge viewing area and a nice walk way to go to out to the water.
We went in the month of November and saw many manatees. It is well worth the visit.
They have gift shop and they also have a concession stand with burgers and hot dogs and snacks.
It is open Nov 1- April 15 and is free. The address is 6990 Dickman Rd, Apollo Beach, Florida 33572. They are open 10-5 daily.admission and parking are free. We loved it here!
