My son loves going to cooking classes at Young Chef Academy in Cumming. The below experience was from two classes pre-covid but they are having classes now! You sign up for class online. You can do a single class or sign up for weekly classes. Here is a list of some of their upcoming classes. https://cummingga.youngchefsacademy.com/special-events
We did a intro class which was chocolate Molten Lava Cake and fresh pasta and meatballs class. My son who went at age 9 loved both of these classes and the second time we brought 2 friends and they loved it too. I was impressed how there were as many boys as girls in the classes. You can drop off your child for the class or you can watch behind the 2 big windows they have. The class is usually 1.5 hours.
They make the food as a group and then at the end everyone gets a serving and they will have a small sampling for the parents too and you can go in and eat it with them at the end. They also talk about key words and the history of the dishes. The chefs we had were a preschool teacher and someone who just graduated from cooking school and they were both great teachers. Each class had 2 teachers in the room with them and were very hands on.
Each class you take home the recipe and those that do the weekly classes get a chefs coat and 3 ring binder to keep the recipes in.
You can also buy some of the kid friendly kitchen supplies. We bought the kid friendly knife for $2. They even have gloves kids can wear so they do not cut their fingers that you can buy.
This would be great for a birthday party too! They also have classes during Forsyth County School breaks. I think they are 4 hours each. They also have home schooling days! They have 2 rooms for cooking classes.
Please note: they gave us our first class free to come check them out. My son loved it so much we purchased our second class and plan to go back for more! They sell gift certificates so thought we may give those as gifts. Most classes are around the $40 $45 price range.
